The Gold Star Mothers Club was formed in the US after World War I to support mothers who lost children in the war. Families would hang Service Flags with a star representing each family member in the military. Gold Star Mothers are politically and socially active and membership is open to any American woman who lost a child in service. Dixie Flag & Banner Co. is authorized by the Department of the Army  Institute of Heraldry to make Service Star Flags & Banners. Made of all-weather nylon and designed for outdoor display.
