From the small handheld flag waving in a child’s hand at a parade to the giant, football field-sized flag used in a halftime show, we are committed to every stitch. HISTORY
Our story began in 1958 when WWII veteran, Henry P. Van de Putte, Sr. got a loan from his mother, Annette, and founded a home-based decorating company servicing tradeshows, conferences, and events across the south. As was the trend at the time, he named his business Dixie Decorators to reflect the company’s service area: Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, also known as “Dixieland”.
Sewing room by day, 8-year old’s bedroom by night; Henry’s son, Henry “Pete” Van de Putte, Jr. shared the room with the first sewing machines. In 1974, the decorating company was sold to Freeman Decorators, and we retained sewing room and flag manufacturing operations, known now as Dixie Flag and Banner Company. Pete grew up, and under his influence from 1980 to 2018, so did the company. We are now one of the most trusted and respected flag companies in the country. The legacy continues; Dixie Flag and Banner is now a minority & woman owned business under the leadership of Pete’s daughter, President & CEO, Vanessa Van de Putte.
We aren’t just a family business; we are a FAMILIES business. Over the last sixty-six years, there have been several families with members from multiple generations who have worked and still work together.
