The United States Air Force flag, introduced and officially adopted by President Harry S. Truman on March 26, 1951, features the U.S. Air Force's crest and shield. The design includes 13 white stars representing the original colonies, a three-star grouping symbolizing the three Departments of the Department of Defense, and a depiction of the North American bald eagle in a cloud formation. The flag's design, created by Dorothy G. Gatchell and Arthur E. Dubois, remains unchanged since its introduction and is also used in the Department of the Air Force seal and the U.S. Air Force's service mark.
