The National flag of Peru, which was adopted in 1825, is made up of three vertical stripes of equal width. The center stripe is white, symbolizing peace. The red stripes to its left and right represent the blood spilt for Peruvian freedom. Peru also has a state flag which incorporates the shield from the national coat of arms at its center.
