The unusual flag which represents the Central African Republic, and was adopted in 1958, consists of four equally sized horizontal stripes - with an equally sized vertical red stripe running down the center. The horizontal stripes appear, from top to bottom, in blue, white, green, and yellow. A yellow five-point star floats on the blue stripe in the top left hand corner.
