Afghanistan's current flag, which was adopted in 2004, is a three color vertical tribar. Each stripe is of equal width, with black on the left, red in the center, and green on the right. Centered in the red stripe is Afghanistan's national emblem; that of a mosque with its mihrab facing Mecca.
