For Henry P. "Pete" Van de Putte, Jr., president and CEO of the Dixie Flag Manufacturing Company of
San Antonio, Texas, the Lone Star and Star-Spangled banners evoke more than the usual sense
of pride. Many of the flags flying throughout the world come from Dixie Flag, the company
his father, Henry, Sr., founded in 1958. "We are truly a family business," says Pete. "Several of our
employees have brought relatives into the company, too. Our staff includes mothers, daughters, and sisters who have been
with Dixie for years - we have all kinds of familial relationships in the company which we
encourage and respect. "Being one of the major distributors of flags and decorative needs in
the United States, our company makes emblems for an impressive roster of organizations and
events all over the country. Our clients include Walt Disney productions, Fiesta San Antonio
and the ESPN "X Games". When Pope John Paul II visited San Antonio in 1987, the Van de Puttes provided
most of the standards used at the ceremonies. They also manufacture flags and banners for a
number of theme parks and festivals and professional sports venues - including the San Antonio Spurs.
Even the historic Alamo flies Dixie's flags. In addition to custom flags and banners, Dixie's
Flag Store has one of the most complete selections of national, state, and historic flags available.
In addition, the Flag Store has "in stock" many patriotic and decorative items. Our Flag Store
Online is the Internet representation of this physical store.
You can't miss Dixie Flag's company headquarters. A gigantic 30-foot by 50-foot U.S. Flag made
by Dixie's seamstress graces the company's 107-foot-high flagpole located at IH 35 and the New Braunfels Avenue.
