Colonel Long's Flag
SKU: XXXXX5
Doctor (Colonel) Long was one of the best educated and most cultured of the Texas leaders. In 1819, Dr. Long, then under his title of colonel, with a large number of men set up a government at Nacogdoches and declared Texas a republic. In 1821 Colonel Long was trying to capture Goliad but instead was captured and taken to Mexico where he was later shot under mysterious circumstances. Colonel Long's flag was of red and white stripes, much like our national colors, but it centered in its union a single white star..the first of the Texas flags with a Lone Star. This flag is made out of nylon material.
